About Me

I have been a parent of Northampton School students for 13 years. Both of my children went to Bridge Street School, then on to JFK Middle School. My son graduated from Northampton High School this past June, and my daughter is in 11th grade at NHS this year.

I am running for school committee as a way to give back to the school community. The quality of life I live now is much different than what I had growing up, and I know first-hand that one person can make a huge difference in a child’s life. Please reach out if you have specific questions or would like to know my views on any school-related topics.

Things about my past:

  • I was raised by a single mother who worked nights, so I know not all students have the same amount of caregiver support.
  • I lived in eight different places by the time I was 10.
  • As a child, getting involved in music and dance were the things that gave me confidence and courage.
  • I took a non-traditional route after high school. I worked full-time and went to community college (in Scottsdale, Arizona) and then on to a state college (ASU). It took 9 years, but I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Supply Chain Management.

Things about me presently:

  • I work personally and through my job to create equity. I run a graphic design studio with my husband, and our current clients include: The Community Foundation of Western Mass, The Alliance for Digital Equity, The Women’s Fund of Western Mass, The Northern Hilltowns Consortium of Councils on Aging, Making Opportunity Count, and Baystate Health’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Much of my time at work is focused on building consensus.
  • I use research-based evidence to help form opinions.
  • I support teachers and their union and want to ensure the School Committee is working in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
  • I believe we can all learn from each other, no matter our age or background.
  • I try to keep an open mind, knowing everyone brings their own perspective.
